Do you want to win free books?

Reading is one of my favorite pastimes. Because I have quite a collection of books, I’m willing to donate them.

Over the past few months, I held contests on my Goodreads blog. The response was great, so I decided to create a blog/site strictly for contests. The books in my contests are in PRINT format only and they are by new and established authors. Some books are in very good condition, others are a bit worn. If they are signed, I will state this in the appropriate contest. Otherwise, they are NOT autographed.

Why am I doing this? Because it’s fun, and I want to introduce readers to books by other authors. I prefer to share these books with those who have not read them. However, if the contest involves several books in a series, and you have read only one, you may still enter the contest.

What do you have to do to enter?
All you have to do is leave a comment and/or answer a question, and you will be entered to win. Be sure to include your e-mail address so I can contact you.

How do I select a winner?
I use Random.org to select a winner.
Then, I will announce the name on the blog and send the lucky person an e-mail message requesting a mailing address.

Winner must reply to me within 3 days of the announcement. If winner fails to respond, winner forfeits the prize and I will select a new winner. (This hasn’t been a problem, and I want it to stay that way.)

Lastly, I will mail the books FREE of charge within the USA and Canada, and I’ll throw in some swag from my books.

**Effective with contest #10, I will ONLY ship within the US and to Canada. I’m sorry, but international costs are too expensive.

Do I expect anything in return, like a book review?
Nope! If you want to let me know what your opinion is about the books, feel free to send me an e-mail. This is optional, not a requirement. I enjoy chatting about books, so I will respond.

If you have any questions, send me an e-mail message.

Contests will change every 2-3 weeks. If you don’t win, be sure to stop by again.

Note 1: I am not responsible if the post office loses the books. I haven’t had a problem so far. In case it happens, I will not be able to replace the books.

Note 2: When you enter the contest, you agree to the terms mentioned above.

Note 3: I can no longer ship outside US and Canada due to the high shipping costs. (see above)

  1. Love that you made a blog just for giveaways. I am sure it will be a hit. Thank you again for Fighting Evil, can’t wait to dive into it. This is a great idea and it is awesome you want to donate books. I can’t tell you the amount of new authors I have been introduced to just through giveaways. I have been spoiled LOL! Great post and thank you 🙂

Thanks, Diana. I’d rather share my books with others who want to read them instead of donating the books to Goodwill where they sit on a shelf forever. Plus, maybe some folks are hesitant to spend money on something they may not like. I totally understand. I think/hope my contests help to solve that issue. And if the reader discovers they like the books, I hope they buy more written by the author and recommend the books to others.
      🙂
      Hope you enjoy FE.

READING IS NOT ONLY MY HOBBY BUT IN SOME WAYS MY LIFELINE.I LOVE TO READ AND CAN’T ALWAYS AFFORD TO GET NEW BOOKS,SO ITS A GOOD THING I HAVE A PUBLIC LIBRARY CLOSE BY !!!! I’M ALWAYS LOOKING FOR NW AUTHORS,USUALLY I WAIT TIL SOMEONE ELSE SUGGESTS THEM.

  3. I love getting new books…I came across your blog on Goodreads.com
I think dark paranormal romance is more intense emotions and gritty atmosphere. More blood, More sex, Dangerous, a bit Gothic and mysterious. I think Dark paranormal romance would be vampires, demons… Light paranormal romance would be a happier fantasy world. I would say fairies…but in the Merry Gentry series the fairies aren’t always so happy-go-lucky. But i guess a lighter atmosphere overall. You would know that there would be a definite happily ever after. cas.pearson@gmail.com

I LOVE THE DARK PARANORMALS BY AUTHORS LIKE SHERRILYN KENYON AND THE MORE LIGHTHEARTED ONES BY CHRISTINE WARREN,BUT THE ONES I’VE BEEN INTO LATELY ARE THE BREEDS BY LORA LEIGH,I BASICALLY LIKE A LOT OF BOOK GENRES,I LOVE SHAPE SHIFTERS,AND I ALSO LIKE SUSPENSE NOVELS BY AUTHORS LIKE LISA JACKSON,KAY HOOPER,ELIZABETH LOWELL,ETC…..I AM NOT IN A POSITION RIGHT NOW WHERE I CAN JUST GO OUT AND BUY NEW BOOKS,SO I’VE BEEN SPENDING TIME AT THE LIBRARY TO SCOUT OUT NEW MATERIAL….I WOULD RATHER READ A GOOD BOOK THAN WATCH T.V.(I REALLY LOVE TO READ !) NEXT TO BASEBALL,THAT IS MY FAVORITE THING TO DO,SOMETIMES I AM SO DEEP IN THE PLOT LINE OF A BOOK AND I JUST CAN’T PUT IT DOWN,I JUST HAVE TO HAVE MY READING TIME !!!!

    • Mary Abshire says:

Ruth, I’m the same way. I would prefer to read than watch television. In fact, I rarely watch TV or go to the movies. The most I watch is during dinner, and half the time we’re all talking about our day or commenting about the news. Now, I will admit that when the True Blood seasons are released on DVD, I sit my rear in front of the tube for a couple of days and watch every episode. Gotta get my TBlood ;o)

      • I love True Blood, have all 3 seasons on DVD. But u have to watch The Walking Dead as well. It is definitely a DRAMA, you really get sucked in and feel for all the characters. I have always been a bit obsessed with Zombies and I LOVED the 1st season, waiting for season 2. My sister doesn’t like Horror at all, while it’s my fave. But i tricked her into watching 1 episode…knowing she’d be sucked into watching all 6 episodes of the 1st season in one sitting. AND IT WORKED and she LOVED it!

I’m so glad you mentioned this blog on Goodreads! I just signed up to be an email subscriber 😀
To answer your question, I love books that incorporate all different types of supernatural and paranormal types in one. I think it adds to the story and opens it up for sequels because there are so many story possibilities there.

  8. Oh goodie!! I cannot pass up a free paranormal read. If I am a lucky winner, can request and e-copy of the book? *crosses fingers* Thank you for doing this giveaway of your book.

    Happy Reading and Writing,

    • Mary Abshire says:

Wendy, be sure to check by weekly or bi-weekly. The contests are numbered (#14, etc) and follow my main thread. You can then leave a comment for that specific contest you’re interested in (#14 or whatever). You can also subscribe and get an automatic email when a new post/contest is up.
Also, the books in the giveaways are print only.
      Good luck!

Please enter me in your drawing for books. I love to read and can not always afford books since I retired by force..my health decided that issue for me and so SS is not allowing much book buying. I so appreciate folks like you who are kind and generous so will be seeking your contests out in the future. I also commented on facebook.under Sue L. Leech garysue@dejazzd.com

    • Mary Abshire says:

      Hi Susan,
I still have plenty of books to giveaway and I’m more than happy to share and spread the word about other authors, as long as I can afford too. lol.
To enter the drawing for books, you’ll need to leave a comment under the specific contest. Example, the contest #14-author name. Leave a comment under that “tread” or “blog post” instead of this main one titled Do you want to win free books.
This way, you can select which giveaways you’re interested in.
If you have any questions, feel free to send me an email!
      Good luck!
